Cargannocking Mechanical Upgrade

Water Corporation
Project Background The Cargannocking WPS is used to transfer scheme water from South Kulin tank to North Lake Grace Tank. The existing WPS consists of 2 x centrifugal pumps running in duty/assist mode. The pump suction and delivery manifolds were in very poor condition and have been replaced with a temporary arrangement in copper pipe. The existing switchboards are old and non-compliant. The pumps are called by the level of the North Lake Grace tank. When the pumps are not running, the system operates under gravity flow. Scope of Works Establishment and control of survey marks and all survey and setting out work. Verification (e.g. by testing) of the integrity of all existing infrastructure connection work. Supply Verification for each supplied and installed equipment item and including third party product certification, manufacturers test certificates and factory/site acceptance test reports; Construction Verification for each component of the Works in accordance with specified requirements including signed-off activity schedules and test reports; Pre-commissioning, including associated activity schedules, test reports and a consolidated summary report that details all pre-commissioning work activities and outcomes;Preparation of detailed design drawings of the pump station mechanical upgrade – i.e. replacement of the existing pumps, manifolds and associated valves, fittings, and supports. The mechanical design. Undertake the Safety in Design process, including combined Operability, Constructability and SiD workshop, and incorporate changes into the design. Supply, delivery to site and installation of all associated pump manifold (suction and discharge) pipework, valves and fittings. Supply and installation of pressure transmitter on the delivery transfer main. Pipework welding & fabrication to clients specification/s. Non-return valves. Isolating valves. Insulated flange kits. Manual Sample Points for Water Quality Analysis. Installation of other minor valves & appurtenances as required, including earthing studs. Construction of concrete slab extension to accommodate the new pump skid and manifolds installation. Construction of concrete footings for pipe supports. All electrical works associated with connection of the new pump motors to the switchboard and VSDs. Connection of the magflow and pressure transmitter instrument signals to the new switchboards. Pipework disinfection and pressure tested. Enable safe and efficient tie-in of the new works to ensure water supply interruption to customers during construction and commissioning activities is limited to 1 day 8hrs. Site Acceptance Testing of work components and witnessed by the representative of the Principal. Removal, blank ending & disposal of obsolete pipework. Removal and of the existing pumps. restoration work at inter-connections with existing water mains. Site restoration and reinstatement. As-constructed drawings to DS80 standard and asset registration information in the specified template format. Preparation & supply of Manufacturers Data Report.

Pressure Reducing Valve – Bermad

Water Corporation - Great Southern Region WA
Denmark Retic Upgrade The construction brief was to minimise the periods that the various assets and pipelines would be required to be isolated. The project & scope of works was to be carried out in 5 separate sites within the town of Denmark. One key element to this project was the installing & commissioning of two Bermad pressure reducing valves. Watercon methodology was to carry out initial excavation of the various sites to expose the pipe work sufficiently to locate all pipelines, valves, fittings and appurtenances. This allowed a survey to be undertaken. A 3D CAD model was created from the survey data and the dimensions for the fabrication to be carried out from the free issue pipe work. The alignment and lengths of all pipe specials was checked within the CAD environment and detailed working drawings was created. This allowed for any construction issues to be identified at the design stage, and time for any changes to pipe work or installation. It also allowed for additional items to be procured or fabricated prior to any isolation\'s or shutdowns. The pipe work was pre-assembled on-site, leaving the minimum number of field fit joints and connections that will be made under the shutdown. Workshop fabrication of the free issue MSCL carbon steel pipework, all fabrication and welding was carried out in accordance with AS4041 Class 2P Shutdown & isolation\'s: the project was carried out using Water Corporation OSH-109 “Isolation and Tagging” procedures Environmental consideration & planning as to not harm the some 100-year old gum trees Traffic management Civil construction including excavation, solider piles, sheet piling, concrete works, road & road-reserve reinstatement Site install of the free issue valves, instrumentation and pipeline components Hydro static testing of the pipework Pipeline disinfection (chlorination) Commissioning activities associated with the works including the set up and commission of the DN250 DN150 (PN35) Bermad  700 series  pressure reducing valve

Maddingley Stabling Yard Vacuum Extraction System.

Coleman Rail/Ballarat Line Upgrade (BLU)
Maddingley Stabling Yard Vacuum Extraction System. Maddingley Stabling Yard, Ballarat Line Upgrade (BLU) All the major components for the Maddingley Stabling Yard, Ballarat Line Upgrade (BLU) vacuum pumping station have been installed & preliminary commissioning completed, the 30 off train extraction decant stations. have been installed on budget and on time. The train decant stations have been Installed with the Airvac 2\" vacuum interface valve DN50 (AV2000), including the AC controller. The brief from the client was the available footprint size for the final position for the VPS was very small. So the 1-4 L/S VPS had to be designed with these specific requirements. The decant stations have been designed by Watercon in house design team to meet the specific requirements of the client. Which included the vacuum vessel size, vacuum pumps orientation to allow the VPS skid to fit into the building.  The project scope also included the design & manufacture of a specialised train adaptor connection with specific design requirements to facilitate the connection from the decant station to the train. Watercon full scope is detailed below. Preliminary & detailed design of the VPS & dewatering system. Site Supervision for the installation of the vacuum mains, collection pits, and associated pipework. Design,  manufacture, install & commission, 12 off cleaners sinks, installed with the Airvac  DN50 (Av2000) vacuum interface valves with APA vacuum collection & cleaners pits . Design manufacture & commission VLine dewatering adaptor. Design,  manufacture, install & commission,30 off train extraction decant stations complete with the Airvac DN50 vacuum interface valves and 7M of suction hose. Design,  manufacture, install & commission, of Vacuum Pump Station Package - 1-4 L/s, including electrical cabinet design & manufacture with the install completed by a local electrical contractor. Full system preliminary commissioning completed February 2019. And full commissioning scheduled for November 2109. Odour control system project manage a local supplier.
